Passion with Purpose: My Vision for Genoa

As your appointed Trustee, I’ve had the honor of serving Genoa Township with dedication, transparency, and heart. I believe local government works best when it truly listens—when every resident feels heard, respected, and treated with kindness. That principle has shaped my approach from day one and will continue to guide me as I seek election to a full term this November.
My connection to this community runs deep. Genoa Township isn’t just where I live—it’s where I’ve built lasting relationships, raised my family, and invested my time and energy. I’m committed to protecting what makes our township special, promoting thoughtful development, ensuring responsible use of tax dollars, and keeping residents informed and engaged.
Serving in this role has been a true privilege, and I’m asking for your support to continue that work—this time with the full voice and confidence that comes from being elected by the people I represent.
I love this community. I grew up here, returned with purpose, and have spent the last 14 years calling it home. Every decision I make is grounded in a deep commitment to serve with integrity, lead with transparency, and always listen with heart.
I would be honored to earn your vote this November.
Annette
MORE THAN JUST A PLATFORM--IT'S MY PASSION
Being your trustee is more than a role—it’s a responsibility I take to heart. I’m not a career politician; I’m a neighbor, a parent, and a professional who stepped up to serve because I care deeply about the future of Genoa.
My platform is rooted in practical solutions, thoughtful growth, and a sincere passion for preserving and enhancing the quality of life in our township. I am committed not just to maintaining what makes our community strong, but also to preparing for the challenges ahead. From infrastructure and road maintenance to responsible development and effective resident engagement, I will focus on solutions that improve daily life and protect Genoa’s character.
By pairing a heartfelt commitment to service with concrete solutions and collaborative leadership, I offer Genoa residents both a trusted neighbor and a capable leader ready to guide our township forward.
Zoning & Development
Zoning and development shape every aspect of life in our township. That’s why I support responsible development—growth that respects the character of our community and the voice of its residents. As we approach full build-out (anticipated around 2030), we must plan carefully.
I will:
-
Encourage Resident Engagement – Host regular community forums and publish clear summaries of zoning proposals so residents understand and can weigh in.
-
Advocate for Strategic, Sustainable Growth – Require that new projects align with our comprehensive plan, the zoning resolution, and infrastructure capacity, ensuring development enhances quality of life rather than straining resources.
-
Promote Collaboration and Transparency – Strengthen communication between Trustees, the Zoning Commission, and residents so zoning decisions are clear, accessible, and accountable.
-
Simplify and Modernize the Zoning Resolution – Lead efforts to update and streamline the zoning resolution into a clear, user-friendly document that reduces confusion for residents and developers while remaining legally sound.
-
Strengthen Enforcement and Responsiveness – Improve monitoring and enforcement of public nuisances and zoning violations, and ensure that resident complaints are heard, tracked, and addressed promptly.
By combining community input, forward-looking planning, and practical updates to our zoning rules, we can preserve Genoa’s character while thoughtfully preparing for the future.
Township Operations
Our township staff are one of our greatest assets. As Genoa continues to grow and evolve, we must modernize and regularly assess how we manage operations to meet residents’ needs efficiently and effectively. With my legal and human resources background, I bring practical knowledge and a forward-looking approach to prepare our township for the future.
I will:
-
Ensure HR Policies Stay Current – Partner with our township administrative team to conduct progressive reviews of policies to reflect legal compliance, best practices, and fairness, so staff and residents alike can trust township operations.
-
Continue to Promote Fair & Equitable Hiring – We are in a solid place with our hiring and recruitment efforts. I will continue to partner with our team to build our recruitment processes with a focus to expand outreach to ensure we attract and retain the most qualified candidates.
-
Strengthen Accountability & Growth – Advocate for consistent performance evaluations that set goals, recognize achievement, and support professional development.
-
Leverage Technology – Modernize operations by expanding online services for residents. Encourage township staff to leverage technology to streamline operations and efficiencies.
-
Conduct Operational Assessments – Work with the township administrator to regularly review township operations to identify inefficiencies, reduce duplication, and improve service delivery.
By focusing on modern tools, transparent practices, and staff development, we can make Genoa’s township operations more effective, more efficient, and more accessible to every resident.
Fiscal Responsibility & Taxes
Growth often brings rising costs—but it’s our job to minimize the burden on residents. I believe in planning ahead, not reacting after the fact. That means:
-
I will support building and maintaining a strong reserve fund to prepare for emergencies, while carefully reviewing every levy to ensure residents get the best value for their tax dollars.
-
Developing long-term strategies that reduce financial strain.
-
Prioritizing efficient, effective use of tax dollars.
-
Maintaining essential services—fire, EMS, police, roads, parks—without unnecessary tax increases.
There’s no magic wand, but there is sound planning and smart stewardship.

Transparency Through Communication & Collaboration
Government should never feel like a mystery. As trustee, I’ve championed better communication—and there’s still work to do.
I will:
-
Launch Quarterly Updates – Host township updates both online and in person, giving residents clear insight into budgets, projects, and upcoming decisions.
-
Expand Communication Tools – Use traditional methods like newsletters and mailed notices, alongside a more robust social media presence, to reach residents of all ages. Work with the township’s communications team and community leaders to create a more expansive multi-channel plan that makes information timely, accessible, and transparent.
-
Highlight Key Issues – Provide plain-language explanations of zoning cases, development proposals, infrastructure projects, and community events so residents can easily understand what’s at stake.
-
Encourage Two-Way Dialogue – Offer opportunities for residents to submit questions in advance of meetings, participate in surveys, and provide feedback on major issues. Create opportunities for "round table" discussions and encourage engagement by creating more points of access for township residents to feel connected and engaged.
By combining clear information with real opportunities for input, we can ensure township decisions are made with residents, not just for them.

Public Safety & Emergency Services
Keeping our residents safe is a fundamental responsibility of township leadership. I am committed to supporting our fire, EMS, and police departments with the resources, training, and personnel they need to serve our community effectively.
I will:
-
Direct Funding Where It Matters – Ensure budgets prioritize staffing, training, and updated equipment so our safety services remain among the best in the region.
-
Invest in Infrastructure – Advocate for strategic upgrades to stations, vehicles, and technology that keep our first responders prepared for both everyday emergencies and long-term growth.
-
Promote Community-Focused Policing – Support initiatives that strengthen trust between officers and residents, such as outreach programs, safety education, and neighborhood engagement.
-
Plan for Population Growth – Ensure fire, EMS, and police staffing levels and facilities expand in step with Genoa’s growth so no area of the township is underserved.
-
Enhance Regional Coordination – Collaborate with neighboring jurisdictions on mutual aid agreements, training opportunities, and cost-sharing for specialized equipment.
Our first responders are the backbone of Genoa Township’s security and well-being. By investing strategically and fostering strong community connections, we will keep Genoa a safe and thriving place for all residents.
Parks, Trails & Recreation
Our parks and trails are part of what make Genoa special. Let’s invest in them wisely, ensuring residents enjoy top-quality spaces without overburdening taxpayers.
I support:
-
Empowering the Parks & Recreation Committee – Work with the committee to create a robust parks and trails plan that sets clear priorities, budgets, and timelines.
-
Strategic Funding – Pursue grants, partnerships, and shared service opportunities to maintain and expand parks while keeping costs low for residents.
-
Enhancing Parks & Trails – Support continued investment in upgrades, maintenance, and trail connectivity so families, children, and seniors can enjoy safe, accessible, and inviting spaces.
-
Inclusive & Accessible Design – Champion projects like the new ADA-accessible playground at McNamara Park and ensure future upgrades continue to serve residents of all ages and abilities.
-
Community Input – Continue to seek resident feedback on park improvements so our investments reflect the needs and interests of the community.
By combining planning, funding creativity, and resident engagement, we can keep Genoa’s parks and trails a source of pride and enjoyment for generations to come.

Roads & Infrastructure
As our township and surrounding area grows, maintaining and improving our infrastructure must remain a top priority. I will work closely with our maintenance team and partner with county and state agencies to ensure Genoa receives the resources and support it needs.
I will:
-
Support and Strengthen Existing Plans – Back the township's current road maintenance framework, ensuring it's fully funded, regularly reviewed, and updated to reflect how our community is evolving.
-
Enhance Resident Communication – Promote and support tools like the Road Construction Updates map so residents can easily follow the status of ongoing roadway projects.
-
Focus on Safety and Reliability – Ensure streets remain safe and smooth through prompt resurfacing and repairs, especially in high-use neighborhoods.
-
Continue to Encourage Preventative, Cost-Effective Planning – Advocate for maintenance strategies that prevent deterioration, reduce emergency repair costs, and stretch taxpayer dollars further.
-
Collaborate with Regional Partners – Coordinate with Delaware County and ODOT to align projects, pursue grant funding, and tackle infrastructure challenges beyond township borders.
By building on what’s already working, amplifying transparency, and planning with foresight, we can ensure Genoa’s roads remain safe, efficient, and well-maintained—today and into the future.
Civic Engagement & Volunteerism
A thriving community depends on active participation. I believe in empowering residents to take part in shaping the future of Genoa Township.
I will:
-
Promote Opportunities to Serve – Continue to publicize openings on township boards, committees, and advisory groups through newsletters, the township website, and community events so residents know how to get involved.
-
Encourage Volunteer Initiatives – Partner with local schools, faith organizations, and civic groups to support township-wide service projects like park cleanups, food drives, and neighborhood improvement efforts.
-
Foster Youth Engagement – Explore the creation of youth programs, mentorship opportunities, and student advisory groups that connect young residents with local government and civic leadership.
-
Celebrate Community Contributions – Highlight volunteers and service projects at township meetings and on township communication channels to recognize and inspire civic pride.
When residents have a voice and a role, our township becomes more connected, more informed, and more resilient.
